Pramjit Rai Suchdev QSM JP (Chairperson)
Pramjit Rai Suchdev, known to New Zealanders as Jeet Suchdev is a successful businessman and philanthropist who have endeared himself to the New Zealand community since he settled here in 1987.Recognizing his contributions towards the society, the ‘Crown’ has honoured him with the ‘Queen’s Service Medal’. Also considering the strength of his integrity and determination of his selfless service to the community, has also accredited him with the honorary position of ‘Justice of the Peace’. To add to his many accolades, he was also awarded the ‘Hind Ratan Award’ by the NRI association of India, acknowledging his services to the community in New Zealand. Jeet also created a history for achieving a first culturally appropriate rest home for the south Asian community.

Malcolm Gordon – Business Consultant
Malcolm Gordon has spent most his working life in Auckland and he is recently relocated to Tauranga with his Family and Involved in Commercial real estate for a number of years and has varied business interests. Malcolm is passionate of the ethnic diversity that is New Zealand. He have been a avid sportsman and have a keen supporter rugby league.

Phyllis Huitema
Phyllis has nineteen years of experience with governance procedures on Executive Boards, Ethics & Professional Conduct Committees in New Zealand. She has investigated multifaceted situations through legislative processes and decision making, and recommended courses of action. Phyllis has experience in the health sector, the New Zealand Law Society, government departments, district councils and community trusts. She has also worked within the criminal justice system for Department of Corrections Psychology Unit.

Khushmeet Kaur
Khushmeet Kaur is a registered nurse. Her training and experience has provided her with a strong awareness of the cultural needs of the Indian community. Khushmeet has been actively involved in the Indian community for the past 7-8 years and recognises the challenges the younger generation and wider Indian community face. Khushmeet is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi and English. Khushmeet migrated to New Zealand in 2001, is married, and enjoys spending time raising her three wonderful children.

The above directors are also Akarana Community Trust’s net proceed committee members. All grant applications are considered by the net proceeds committee members.
